Sukta 1.88
Gautama (RV 1.88 traditionally Gautama Rāhūgaṇa)
Maruts
Triṣṭubh (probable)
Is mantra mein Maruts ko bulaya ja raha hai. Woh apni bijli jaisi rath pe jaldi aayein. Yeh Gotama kavi hain jo mantra shakti utha rahe hain. Usse khushi ka paani nikalta hai. Maruts usse pi kar shakti dete hain. Woh logon ko badhata aur sahi urja dete hain.
Mantra 1
Marut devta, bijli aur chamak ke saath aao. Tumhari rathen suraj jaisi chamakdaar hain, ghodon ke paas pankh hain. Tum poori taakat ke saath aao, jaise chidiya udti hai. Tum apni shakti aur sundarta hamare paas lao.
Mantra 2
Marut devta apne rang-birange ghodon ke saath acche sthan par ja rahe hain. Unke rath bahut tez hain, jaise koi chamakdaar gehna ho. Unke rath ke pahiye zameen par takrate hain aur raste ko saaf karte hain.
Mantra 3
Marut devta ki body par chamak aur buddhi dono ugte hain, jaise jungle mein ped upar jaate hain. Tum log acche khaas ho aur tumhari shakti badi hai. Tum chupa hua khazana aur taakat nikaal sakte ho.
Mantra 4
Din ke baad din, jaise baaz nazar rakhta hai, waise hi Gotam rishi tumhare paas aaye hain. Unhone us shakti ko upar uthaya hai taaki hum us sukh ko paa sakein.
Mantra 5
Yeh woh baat hai jo kisi aur ki nahi. Gotama ne Marut devtaon ko dekha. Woh sonay ke pahiye wale the. Unke daant lohe ke jaise the. Woh soor ke roop mein aaye jo raste mein jo bhi rokawat thi, use tod ke aage badh gaye.
Mantra 6
Marut devtaon ke paas ek awaaz hai jo unka saath deti hai. Yeh awaaz waise hi jawab deti hai jaise koi bhakt puja mein bolta hai. Yeh awaaz unke haathon mein gungunati hai. Woh apni marzi se chalti hai aur unki shakti ko saath lekar chalti hai.
The Maruts are a powerful group of storm-deities—youthful, radiant, and fierce—who move with wind and lightning and are asked to bring protection, strength, and abundance.
The hymn asks the Maruts to come quickly to the rite, energize the worshippers with life-force and increase, and uphold them with their protective, disciplined power.
Here “brahman” means effective mantra-power. The Gotama poets say their hymns actively raise and channel divine energy, making the ritual a place where the Maruts can ‘drink’ delight and then bless the people.
