Type: kshetra
Listener: Devī
Scene: Īśvara begins his reply, calm and authoritative, introducing the ancient sage Mṛkaṇḍa from a former aeon as the starting point of the immortality story.
Purāṇic dharma is preserved through divine instruction—Śiva himself frames immortality as a consequence of a sacred cause.
The narration occurs within Prabhāsakṣetra Māhātmya, connecting the site’s glory with Śiva’s authoritative teaching.
None in this verse; it formally introduces the lineage and backstory that will ground the later teaching.
