Type: kshetra
Scene: A brāhmaṇa eats the śrāddha meal; translucent ancestral figures align with his hand, mouth, palate, and throat—father at the hand, grandfather at the mouth, great-grandfather at the palate, maternal grandfather at the throat—showing subtle participation.
Śrāddha feeding is a sacred conduit: offerings to the brāhmaṇa are mystically received by the ancestors.
Prabhāsa-kṣetra, within whose māhātmya the inner meaning of śrāddha is explained.
It describes the doctrinal mapping of how different ancestors ‘receive’ during brāhmaṇa-bhojana in śrāddha.
