śṛṇuyādvā naro yaśca śraddhāpūtena cetasā | so'pi mucyenna sandehaḥ pāpācca divasodbhavāt
Ou bien l’homme qui l’écoute avec un esprit purifié par la foi est lui aussi délivré—sans aucun doute—des péchés amassés jour après jour.
Bṛhaspati
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and other ṛṣis at Naimiṣāraṇya (standard Purāṇic frame; not explicit in this verse)
Scene: A devotee seated with folded hands listens to a Purāṇika reciting tīrtha-māhātmya; subtle dark stains (sins) dissolve into light around the listener’s heart.
Śraddhā-filled listening is itself a purifying sādhana; receptive hearing of dharma reduces daily karmic stains.
No specific tirtha is named in this verse; it provides a general fruit of listening within the Mahatmya context.
Śravaṇa—listening to the teaching with faith and a purified mind.
