Narrative (implied Sūta/Lomaharṣaṇa style narration within Tīrthamāhātmya)

Scene: The devas gaze at Indra and recoil inwardly: his former brilliance is dimmed; a darkened aura and visual cues of stench (wavy lines, withering garlands) surround him, contrasting with the gods’ luminous presence.

FAQs

Sin is portrayed as visibly diminishing spiritual radiance (tejas) and purity, urging immediate purification through dharmic means.

This verse sets the scene; the specific tīrthas are detailed in the succeeding instructions within the same adhyāya.

None in this verse; it describes the symptom (loss of tejas and foulness) that leads to later prāyaścitta guidance.
