Skanda Purana — Nagara Khanda, Shloka 7

मन्त्रैर्विना षोडश सोपचारैः कार्या सुपूजा नरकादिहंतुः । यथा तथा वै गिरिजापतेश्च कार्या महा शूद्र महाघहंत्री

mantrairvinā ṣoḍaśa sopacāraiḥ kāryā supūjā narakādihaṃtuḥ | yathā tathā vai girijāpateśca kāryā mahā śūdra mahāghahaṃtrī

Même sans mantras, il faut accomplir une très belle pūjā avec les seize offrandes rituelles, car elle détruit les destinées infernales et autres maux. De même, ô grand Śūdra, accomplis la pūjā du Seigneur de Girijā (Śiva) : il est le grand destructeur des fautes lourdes.
