अष्टषष्टिविभागेन पूर्वमायुव्ययोद्भवम् । तत्रासीदथ गोत्रे च पुरुषाणां प्रसंख्यया

aṣṭaṣaṣṭivibhāgena pūrvamāyuvyayodbhavam | tatrāsīdatha gotre ca puruṣāṇāṃ prasaṃkhyayā

Autrefois, par une répartition en soixante-huit parts, naquit là un agencement ordonné touchant la vie et ses dépenses ; et, dans les gotras aussi, on tenait le décompte des hommes selon leur nombre.
