Skanda Purana — Nagara Khanda, Shloka 70

यथाज्येष्ठं यथाश्रेष्ठं प्रक्षाल्य चरणौ ततः । शास्त्रोक्तेन विधानेन प्रददौ द्विजसत्तमाः

yathājyeṣṭhaṃ yathāśreṣṭhaṃ prakṣālya caraṇau tataḥ | śāstroktena vidhānena pradadau dvijasattamāḥ

Puis, selon l’ordre convenable—selon l’ancienneté et l’excellence—après leur avoir lavé les pieds, il fit ses dons aux plus éminents des deux-fois-nés, suivant le rite prescrit par les śāstra.
