द्विज उवाच । कः क्रीडति सरोषेण निर्भयो हि महाहिना । मृत्युदृष्टोतरेणापि मम धेनुं नयेत यः

dvija uvāca | kaḥ krīḍati saroṣeṇa nirbhayo hi mahāhinā | mṛtyudṛṣṭotareṇāpi mama dhenuṃ nayeta yaḥ

Le brāhmane dit : «Qui donc jouerait avec la colère, sans crainte devant un grand serpent ? Qui oserait emmener ma vache, même après avoir été marqué par le regard de la Mort ?»
