Scene: Devī prepares to enumerate her sacred abodes; the scene hints at a ‘map’—four directions with symbolic markers, while the sage listens attentively.
Though Devī is everywhere, certain sacred seats concentrate devotional power—pilgrimage and remembrance become means to siddhi and well-being.
This is the preface to a named list of Devī’s celebrated abodes (beginning next verse).
Darśana (seeing) for siddhi and smaraṇa (remembering) for prosperity are indicated as devotional practices.
