Type: kshetra
Listener: General audience; explicitly inclusive of nārī and puruṣa; framed to brāhmaṇas in the adhyāya
Scene: A mixed assembly of women and men sit in attentive devotion as a reciter proclaims Rudra’s words; Rudra’s presence is suggested as a luminous aura above the gathering, indicating divine sanction.
Bhakti expressed through attentive listening is universally efficacious, transcending gender and granting the highest spiritual goal.
The māhātmya being heard concerns the Bhṛgutīrtha/Bhṛgukaccha kṣetra in Revā Khaṇḍa.
Śravaṇa with devotion (bhaktyā) of the sacred account/māhātmya.
