svabhartṛdharmiṇīṃ kopaṃ mā kuruṣvātithiṃ kuru | satāṃ samīpaṃ samprāptāṃ sarvaṃ me kṣantumarhatha
Type: kshetra
Listener: Audience within the kathā frame
Scene: Śāṇḍilī stands before sages with composed firmness, requesting they treat her as a guest and not with anger; sages’ faces show mixed surprise and contemplation.
Anger is to be restrained; hospitality (ātithi-dharma) and forgiveness are hallmarks of saintly conduct.
The Revā Khaṇḍa’s spiritual atmosphere frames the teaching, but no single site is specified in this verse.
Ātithi-satkāra is implied: treating the arriving person as a guest worthy of respect and non-violence.
