À l’ouest de la tranchée sacrée de Māṇḍavya se trouve le tīrtha nommé Aṅkūreśvara. Celui qui s’y baigne, purifié et l’esprit maîtrisé, devient apte au rite qui suit.
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) (deduced from Purāṇic narration style in Āvantya Khaṇḍa)
Tirtha: Aṅkūreśvara-tīrtha
Type: ghat
Scene: A pilgrim approaches a westward riverbank from Māṇḍavya’s pool; signposts or local guides indicate Aṅkūreśvara; the pilgrim bathes, then stands with folded hands, eyes lowered, composed and disciplined.
Purity and mental discipline are presented as the proper foundation for receiving the full merit of a sacred tīrtha.
Aṅkūreśvara-tīrtha, located to the west of Māṇḍavya’s khāta (sacred trench).
Snāna (ritual bathing) at the tīrtha with a pure body and restrained mind.
