Inquiry into Śiva-knowledge and Śiva’s self-manifestation in creation
Lord Shiva (as the Supreme Pati teaching non-dual supremacy in the Vāyavīya philosophical discourse, narrated within Sūta’s recitation)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
Offering: dipa
Cosmic Event: ontological claim of immanence: the universe sustained by Śiva’s own tejas
It declares Shiva as the sole Supreme Reality (Pati): nothing exists independently of Him, and the cosmos is sustained by His inherent divine power (tejas). The seeker is guided toward exclusive refuge in Shiva for liberation.
The Linga is the worshipful sign of the same all-pervading Shiva proclaimed here. By worshiping Saguna Shiva through the Linga, the devotee approaches the Nirguna truth—Shiva as the one reality in whom the universe rests and by whom it is sustained.
Meditate on Shiva as the indwelling Lord through japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), contemplating that His tejas alone supports all life; this supports steadiness in yoga and single-pointed bhakti.
