Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Significance: Models the Siddhānta ideal of the paśu’s bhakti and pāda-sevā to Pati (Śiva), which is held to mature into Śiva’s anugraha (liberating grace).
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
The verse presents Kumāra as the ideal Shaiva devotee: beauty and greatness are secondary to unwavering attachment to Pati (Śiva) expressed through constant reverence for Śiva’s feet, a classic symbol of surrender and grace in Shaiva Siddhanta.
By praising “Śiva’s feet” and constant worship, the verse supports Saguna upāsanā—devotional, form-based worship such as Śiva-liṅga pūjā—through which the devotee’s bond with Śiva deepens and becomes a means for receiving Śiva’s anugraha (grace).
A practical takeaway is daily Śiva-pūjā with bhakti—mentally bowing to Śiva’s feet while repeating the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—and offering bilva leaves or sacred ash (tripuṇḍra/bhasma) as a sign of steady devotion.
