Après avoir examiné avec soin les disciples selon les marques enseignées dans les Śiva-śāstra, le précepteur doit les purifier et les façonner comme il convient, puis leur transmettre la connaissance de Śiva.

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It establishes that Śiva-jñāna is transmitted through a qualified guru to a prepared disciple; purification, discipline, and right qualifications are essential for the liberating knowledge of Pati (Śiva) to remove pāśa (bondage).
Linga and Saguna worship become truly transformative when guided by the deśika: the disciple is trained in correct understanding and practice so devotion matures into Śiva-jñāna rather than remaining mere external observance.
It implies dīkṣā and disciplined preparation under a guru—regular mantra-japa (often the Pañcākṣarī), along with purificatory observances such as bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and Rudrākṣa as prescribed in Śaiva practice.
