Purification of the Six Adhvans / Sixfold Cosmic Path
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that even ordinary acts like resting should be converted into sādhana: purity of body, sanctification by mantra, and inward dhyāna of Śiva align the individual soul (paśu) toward the Lord (Pati) and loosen bondage (pāśa).
Although no external liṅga is mentioned here, the instruction emphasizes Saguna-upāsanā through mantra and meditation—holding Śiva in the heart as the living presence—so the devotee’s inner worship continues beyond formal ritual.
Prepare a clean darbha bed, consecrate it with Śiva-mantra (commonly the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), lie with the head to the east at night, and maintain steady inner remembrance/meditation of Śiva.
