Shiva Purana — Vayaviya Samhita, Shloka 29

शिवसंस्कार-दीक्षानिरूपणम् (Śivasaṃskāra and the Typology of Dīkṣā)

FAQs

It teaches Guru-tattva: when the Guru is pleased, karmic bondage (pāpa) is destroyed swiftly through grace, so the seeker must guard purity of thought, word, and deed to avoid guru-aparādha and progress toward Shiva-realization.

In Shaiva tradition, the Guru transmits right understanding and disciplined worship of Saguna Shiva (including Linga-pūjā and mantra). Pleasing the Guru stabilizes devotion and correct practice, making worship fruitful and removing obstacles born of past karma.

Practice daily guru-vandana (salutation), maintain restraint in speech, and do mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with humility—treating service to the Guru as a core sādhanā that prevents angering the preceptor.
