Sanatkumara (in instruction to Narada, within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It teaches that one-pointed remembrance of a sacred mantra at bedtime functions as a protective discipline (rakṣā), stabilizing the mind and removing fear-producing impressions such as bad dreams and anxiety about harm.
By emphasizing ananyadhī—undivided attention—the verse points to bhakti as steady inner recollection (smaraṇa) rather than mere external ritual, making devotion continuous even at the threshold of sleep.
It highlights a practical prayoga of mantra-smaraṇa tied to disciplined mental focus (ananya-dhī), aligning with Vedāṅga-style applied knowledge where correct, attentive use of mantra is treated as a method for tangible results (rakṣā and peace of mind).
