Jyotiṣa-saṅgraha: Varga-vibhāga, Bala-nirṇaya, Garbha-phala, Āyuḥ-gaṇanā
प्रबलस्य दशायां वा शत्रुनीचा दिगार्तिदाः । आसन्नकेंद्रद्वयगैर्वर्गदाख्यः सकलग्रहैः ॥ १८६ ॥
prabalasya daśāyāṃ vā śatrunīcā digārtidāḥ | āsannakeṃdradvayagairvargadākhyaḥ sakalagrahaiḥ || 186 ||
Même durant la daśā d’une planète puissante, si les autres planètes sont en positions ennemies ou débilitées et causent des afflictions venant des directions, alors—lorsque toutes les planètes occupent des places proches des deux kendras—cette configuration est appelée « Vargada ».

It frames life’s ups and downs as karma-fruits read through Jyotiṣa: even when a benefic influence is strong, afflictions from other factors can still manifest, urging discernment, dharmic conduct, and remedial spiritual discipline.
While the verse is technical (Jyotiṣa), its implication supports Bhakti practice as a stabilizing refuge: when mixed planetary indications arise, devotion, prayer, and sattvic living are recommended in the Purāṇic worldview to meet outcomes with steadiness.
