Narada Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 5

The Narration of the Navamī Vow Observed Across the Twelve Months

FAQs

It states the fruit of disciplined observance: sins are removed in this life, and the practitioner reaches Viṣṇu’s supreme abode—linking ethical purification (pāpa-kṣaya) with mokṣa-oriented devotion.

By presenting attainment of Viṣṇu’s highest state as the goal of a vowed observance (vrata), it frames devotion as practical, embodied worship that purifies the heart and culminates in Viṣṇu-bhakti’s ultimate result.

The verse chiefly reflects Kalpa/ritual discipline (vrata-vidhi) rather than technical Vedāṅgas like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa; its practical takeaway is that regulated observance and purity practices are central to dharma and spiritual progress.
