Account of the Aṣṭamī Vow Across the Twelve Months
Narada (teaching vrata-vidhi within the Purva Bhaga narrative)
Vrata: Karakā-vrata (context continuation)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames vrata as disciplined devotion: worship of Śiva together with Śakti (Umā) and the timed act of arghya at moonrise, turning a vow into a precise, sanctifying ritual practice.
Bhakti here is expressed through attentive pūjā—worship done “with earnest effort”—and through consistent observance (“always”) of a simple but meaningful offering, showing devotion as steady practice rather than mere sentiment.
It highlights ritual timing and calendrical awareness—performing arghya specifically at candrodaya (moonrise)—which aligns with Jyotiṣa-style timekeeping used to fix proper moments for vrata and pūjā.
