sa tasya vaiśvadevānte dvārālokanagocare sthitas tena gṛhītārgho nijaveśmapraveśitaḥ
He stood there at the close of the Vaiśvadeva rite, within sight of the doorway; then, received with the offering of arghya, he was respectfully led into the host’s own residence.
Sage Parāśara (narrating to Maitreya)
Concept: Honoring guests (atithi) with ritual propriety is itself dharma and a purifier of the household.
Vedantic Theme: Dharma
Application: Practice mindful hospitality—respect, cleanliness, and attention—especially toward teachers, elders, and seekers.
Vishishtadvaita: Service offered in dharma becomes a mode of worship, aligning household life with divine order.
Bhakti Type: Dasya
This verse presents Vaiśvadeva as the daily household act that aligns domestic life with cosmic order—after completing it, the host honors the guest, showing dharma as lived practice.
By depicting arghya and formal reception, Parāśara shows dharma not as abstraction but as embodied conduct—ritual completion followed by ethical hospitality.
Even without naming Vishnu directly, the verse reflects Vaishnava theology: orderly ritual and righteous hospitality are expressions of serving the Supreme who pervades the world and upholds dharma.
