Sukta 64

Mantra 1

दिवि क्षयन्ता रजसः पृथिव्यां प्र वां घृतस्य निर्णिजो ददीरन् । हव्यं नो मित्रो अर्यमा सुजातो राजा सुक्षत्रो वरुणो जुषन्त ॥

Dwelling in heaven and on earth, moving through the mid-worlds, you have torn open the shining robes of the clarified light. May Mitra and Aryaman, well-born, and Varuṇa the king of noble dominion, take delight in our offering: let the sovereign powers accept and establish the right order in us.

Mantra 2

आ राजाना मह ऋतस्य गोपा सिन्धुपती क्षत्रिया यातमर्वाक् । इळां नो मित्रावरुणोत वृष्टिमव दिव इन्वतं जीरदानू ॥

Come, O two kings, great guardians of ṛta, lords of the flowing powers, sovereign in rule—come near to us. Grant us the nourishing inspiration (iḷā) and also the rain of heaven, O Mitra and Varuṇa, you who give enduring gifts: let the higher waters descend into our life.

Mantra 3

मित्रस्तन्नो वरुणो देवो अर्यः प्र साधिष्ठेभिः पथिभिर्नयन्तु । ब्रवद्यथा न आदरिः सुदास इषा मदेम सह देवगोपाः ॥

May Mitra and Varuṇa, the divine Arya-powers, lead us forward by the most accomplishing paths. Let it be spoken so that no enemy may reach us; may we rejoice in the force of nourishment and increase, guarded by the gods.

Mantra 4

यो वां गर्तं मनसा तक्षदेतमूर्ध्वां धीतिं कृणवद्धारयच्च । उक्षेथां मित्रावरुणा घृतेन ता राजाना सुक्षितीस्तर्पयेथाम् ॥

Whoever has fashioned for you this seat by the mind, and has made the thought rise upward and held it firm—may you, O Mitra and Varuṇa, sprinkle him with the clarified light; you two kings, satisfy and foster the good habitations (the stable states of the being).

Mantra 5

एष स्तोमो वरुण मित्र तुभ्यं सोमः शुक्रो न वायवेऽयामि । अविष्टं धियो जिगृतं पुरंधीर्यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

This hymn of affirmation I offer to you, O Varuṇa and Mitra—like a bright Soma pressed out for Vāyu I bring it forward. Take up our thoughts that seek the desired goal, O powers of plenitude; and you, protect us always with states of well-being.
