Sukta 29

Mantra 1

अयं सोम इन्द्र तुभ्यं सुन्व आ तु प्र याहि हरिवस्तदोकाः । पिबा त्वस्य सुषुतस्य चारोर्ददो मघानि मघवन्नियानः ॥

This Soma is pressed for you, O Indra; come forward to this home of the offering, O lord of the shining steeds. Drink of this well-pressed, delightful essence; then, O bountiful one, moving toward us, bestow the powers of plenitude.

Mantra 2

ब्रह्मन्वीर ब्रह्मकृतिं जुषाणोऽर्वाचीनो हरिभिर्याहि तूयम् । अस्मिन्नू षु सवने मादयस्वोप ब्रह्माणि शृणव इमा नः ॥

O heroic Indra, delighting in the fashioned brahman, come swiftly toward us with your tawny powers. In this Soma pressing, be intoxicated with the delight; and near us, listen to these our inspired utterances.

Mantra 3

का ते अस्त्यरंकृतिः सूक्तैः कदा नूनं ते मघवन्दाशेम । विश्वा मतीरा ततने त्वायाधा म इन्द्र शृणवो हवेमा ॥

What sufficient offering is there for you through our good utterances, and when indeed shall we satisfy you, O bountiful one? All our thoughts have been stretched out toward you; now, O Indra, hear these our calls.

Mantra 4

उतो घा ते पुरुष्या इदासन्येषां पूर्वेषामशृणोॠषीणाम् । अधाहं त्वा मघवञ्जोहवीमि त्वं न इन्द्रासि प्रमतिः पितेव ॥

And indeed yours were those human aids, for the earlier seers whom you listened to. Therefore I call you now, O bountiful one: you are for us, O Indra, a guiding care and wise forethought, like a father.

Mantra 5

वोचेमेदिन्द्रं मघवानमेनं महो रायो राधसो यद्ददन्नः । यो अर्चतो ब्रह्मकृतिमविष्ठो यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

May we indeed utter (the true word of) Indra, the Lord of plenitude—this Power who, giving to us, bestows the great wealth and the bounteous fullness. He who is most ready to help the chanter, fashioning the brahman (the effective mantric force): do you (O powers of Indra) guard us always with states of well-being and right-going felicities.
