Sukta 76

Mantra 1

आ भात्यग्निरुषसामनीकमुद्विप्राणां देवया वाचो अस्थुः । अर्वाञ्चा नूनं रथ्येह यातं पीपिवांसमश्विना घर्ममच्छ ॥

Agni shines forth, the face of the Dawns; and the godward words of the seers rise up. Turn hither now with your chariot—O Ashvins—towards the warming nectar that is made ready and well-filled for you.

Mantra 2

न संस्कृतं प्र मिमीतो गमिष्ठान्ति नूनमश्विनोपस्तुतेह । दिवाभिपित्वेऽवसागमिष्ठा प्रत्यवर्तिं दाशुषे शम्भविष्ठा ॥

Do not measure out your coming by what is merely arranged; you are the most ready to arrive—now, here—when you are praised, O Ashvins. In the daylight and in the nearness of our dwelling, come with your help; turn back the obstruction for the giver, O most bringers of peace.

Mantra 3

उता यातं संगवे प्रातरह्नो मध्यंदिन उदिता सूर्यस्य । दिवा नक्तमवसा शंतमेन नेदानीं पीतिरश्विना ततान ॥

Come also at the union-times—at the morning of the day, at midday when the Sun stands uplifted. By day and by night, with your most peace-giving help: let not the draught of delight fail now, O Ashvins, but be spread out for us.

Mantra 4

इदं हि वां प्रदिवि स्थानमोक इमे गृहा अश्विनेदं दुरोणम् । आ नो दिवो बृहतः पर्वतादाद्भ्यो यातमिषमूर्जं वहन्ता ॥

This indeed is your station in the higher heaven, your home; these are the houses, O Ashvins—this is the dwelling. From the vast heaven, from the mountain, from the waters, come to us bringing the impulse of nourishment and the plenitude of energy.

Mantra 5

समश्विनोरवसा नूतनेन मयोभुवा सुप्रणीती गमेम । आ नो रयिं वहतमोत वीराना विश्वान्यमृता सौभगानि ॥

In harmony with the Ashvins’ ever-new help—help that brings joy—may we arrive by a perfect leading. Bring to us the rayi, and also heroic strengths; bring all the immortal felicities.
