Shloka 6.43.33
द्वन्द्वयुद्धप्रवृत्तिः (Dvandva-Yuddha: The Onset of Single Combats)
सशरैरभिविद्धाङ्गोद्विविदःक्रोधमूर्छितः ।सालेनसरथंसाश्वंनिजघानाशनिप्रभम् ।।6.43.33।।
saśarair abhividdhāṅgo dvividaḥ krodhamūrcchitaḥ | sālenā sarathaṃ sāśvaṃ nijaghāna aśaniprabham ||6.43.33||
Dvividha, his limbs pierced by arrows and maddened with wrath, struck down Aśaniprabha with a śāla tree—along with his chariot, horses, and charioteer.
Dwivida whose limbs have been injured being enraged took Sala tree and killed Asaniprabha and the charioteer as well as the horses.
The episode warns that anger (krodha) can surge even in righteous battle; dharma requires channeling force toward ending harm, not toward uncontrolled rage.
After being wounded by arrows, Dvividha retaliates and destroys Aśaniprabha’s entire chariot-unit using a śāla tree.
Parākrama (martial valor), though the verse also foregrounds the psychological intensity of battle—krodha as a dangerous accelerant.
