Even if Devas, Gandharvas, and Dānavas were to assail me together, I would not give Sītā back—not even out of fear of the whole world.
"Even if Devas, Gandharvas and Danavas put together attack me in war and not even for the fear of the whole world will I surrender Sita?"
It illustrates adharma through obstinate refusal to correct wrongdoing: despite overwhelming consequence, Rāvaṇa rejects the truthful, righteous course (returning Sītā), showing how ego can harden into unrighteous resolve.
Rāvaṇa declares uncompromising defiance—he will not surrender Sītā even if attacked by the combined celestial powers—signaling the inevitability of war.
Not a virtue but a vice: ahaṅkāra (pride) and durgraha (stubborn grasping) are foregrounded as forces opposing dharma and satya.
