“Today, seeing you with your foes destroyed, your heart fulfilled, and your forest-exile completed, I am filled with the highest joy.”

"Today the enemies are killed, and you have completed the exile. I am fully satisfied and experiencing joyfulness on seeing you."

Daśaratha
R
Rāma
V
Vanavāsa (forest exile)

Dharma as vow-fulfillment: completing exile and restoring order after defeating adharma brings legitimate joy and closure.

Daśaratha acknowledges that Rāma has finished the exile and overcome enemies, and expresses his deep satisfaction.

Rāma’s perseverance and commitment to duty (vrata-niṣṭhā), completing what was undertaken without deviation.
