Shloka 5.62.27

मधुवनभङ्गः — The Disruption of Madhuvana and Dadhimukha’s Complaint

मदान्धश्च न वेदैनमार्यकोऽयं ममेति सः।अथैनं निष्पिपेषाशु वेगवद्वसुधातले।।5.62.27।।

madāndhaś ca na veda enam āryako 'yaṃ mameti saḥ |

athainaṃ niṣpipeṣāśu vegavad vasudhātale ||5.62.27||

Blinded by pride, he failed to recognize, “This is my venerable elder.” Then he swiftly crushed him down with force upon the ground.

"Blinded by arrogance, the prince pushed him (Dadhimukha) on the floor forcibly, forgetting that he was his revered granduncle.

Pride obscures right judgment; dharma requires recognition of rightful relationships and reverence toward elders, even amid provocation.

Angada, overcome by arrogance/heat of conflict, does not acknowledge Dadhimukha’s senior status and slams him to the ground.

A negative lesson: the danger of mada (pride) and loss of discernment (viveka), which undermines dharmic conduct.
