सुन्दरकाण्डे अष्टपञ्चाशः सर्गः — हनुमद्वृत्तान्तकथनम्, सीताभिज्ञान-प्रदानम्, लङ्कादाह-वर्णनम्
यद्यन्यथा भवेदेतद्द्वौ मासौ जीवितं मम।न मां द्रक्ष्यति काकुत्स्थो म्रिये साहमनाथवत्।।।।
yady anyathā bhaved etad dvau māsau jīvitaṃ mama | na māṃ drakṣyati kākutstho mriye sāham anāthavat ||
“If it turns out otherwise, I have only two months of life left. Kākutstha will not see me again; I shall die like one bereft of all protection.”
'Otherwise with none to protect me, I will live only for two months.I will die like an orphan and he will not see me'.
Sītā’s dharma is steadfast fidelity and truthfulness: she does not compromise her integrity, even under threat, and faces the consequence with truthful clarity rather than yielding to adharma.
In Aśoka-vana, after enduring intimidation and pressure, Sītā expresses that her endurance has a limit—she foresees death within two months if rescue does not come.
Steadfastness (dhṛti) and chastity/fidelity (pativratā-dharma), coupled with unwavering commitment to truth (satya).
