सुन्दरकाण्डे अष्टपञ्चाशः सर्गः — हनुमद्वृत्तान्तकथनम्, सीताभिज्ञान-प्रदानम्, लङ्कादाह-वर्णनम्
तच्छ्रुत्वा करुणं वाक्यं क्रोधो मामभ्यवर्तत।उत्तरं च मया दृष्टं कार्यशेषमनन्तरम्।।।।
tac chrutvā karuṇaṃ vākyaṃ krodho mām abhyavartata | uttaraṃ ca mayā dṛṣṭaṃ kāryaśeṣam anantaram ||
Hearing her pitiable words, anger surged over me; and at once I perceived what still remained for me to do next—an answer in deed.
"When I heard her pathetic appeal, I was overtaken by anger. I perceived the task left over for me to do.
Dharma here is purposeful action in service of righteousness: emotion (anger) is not indulged for ego, but converted into a disciplined response aligned with the mission—protecting Sītā and advancing Rāma’s cause.
After hearing Sītā’s desperate time-limit, Hanumān decides the next strategic step—creating pressure in Laṅkā to provoke a confrontation and gather intelligence.
Sevā-bhāva (devoted service) and strategic clarity: Hanumān quickly identifies the ‘next necessary work’ rather than remaining in grief.
