अभिज्ञानमणि-प्रदानम् — The Signet Jewel as Proof and the Consolation of Sita
गते हि हरिशार्दूल पुनरागमनाय तु।प्राणानामपि सन्देहो मम स्यान्नात्र संशयः।।।।
gate hi hariśārdūla punarāgamanāya tu | prāṇānām api sandeho mama syān nātra saṃśayaḥ ||
For, O tiger among Vānaras, if you depart intending to return again, my very life would become uncertain—of this there is no doubt.
"O tiger among vanaras! if you leave this place to come again, my life will be uncertain, (if your coming is uncertain). There is no doubt about it.
Dharma here highlights responsibility in speech and promise: when hope is given to the suffering, uncertainty can become harmful; truthful assurance and timely action matter.
Sītā fears that if Hanumān leaves with only a promise to return, the delay and uncertainty may break her remaining strength to live.
