Shloka 5.27.31

त्रिजटास्वप्नवर्णनम् (Trijata’s Dream-Omens and the Rakshasis’ Reversal)

एकस्तत्र मया दृष्टः श्वेतच्छत्रो विभीषणः।।5.27.31।।शुक्लमाल्याम्बरधरः शुक्लगन्धानुलेपनः।

sītāṃ tābhir anāryābhir dṛṣṭvā santarjitāṃ tadā |

rākṣasī trijaṭā vṛddhā śayānā vākyam abravīt ||5.27.4||

Then, seeing Sītā being threatened by those ignoble rākṣasī-women, the aged demoness Trijaṭā, lying there, spoke these words.

"Only Vibhishana was under a white umbrella clad in white, with white garlands and white sandal paste.

Dharma begins with recognizing wrongdoing: threatening an innocent and virtuous person is adharma, and the wise intervene through counsel and restraint.

In the Aśoka grove, Sītā is being harassed by rākṣasīs; the elder Trijaṭā notices this and prepares to address them.

Trijaṭā’s moral discernment and courage—she speaks up against the group’s cruelty.
