Shloka 4.67.23
हनूमद्विक्रम-प्रशंसा तथा महेन्द्रारोहणम् (Hanuman’s Self-Assertion of Power and Ascent of Mount Mahendra)
वैनतेयस्य या शक्तिर्मम सा मारुतस्य वा।।4.67.23।।ऋते सुपर्णराजानं मारुतं वा महाजवम्।न तद्भूतं प्रपश्यामि यन्मां प्लुतमनुव्रजेत्।।4.67.24।।
vainateyasya yā śaktir mama sā mārutasya vā || 4.67.23 ||
ṛte suparṇarājānaṃ mārutaṃ vā mahājavam |
na tad bhūtaṃ prapaśyāmi yan māṃ plutam anuvrajet || 4.67.24 ||
The power that belongs to Vainateya (Garuḍa) is mine—and so too is that of Māruta. Save for the king of birds and the swift Wind, I see no being that could follow me as I fly.
'Only Garuda and Maruta have the capacity to fly like me. No one other than the king of vultures and the Wind-god have the speed to fly like me.
Dharma here is truthful self-assessment for the sake of duty: Hanumān states his capability plainly to remove obstacles to the righteous mission, not to deceive or boast falsely.
At the critical moment before the ocean crossing, Hanumān establishes that none can match his flight-speed except divine exemplars, strengthening the group’s confidence in success.
Satya (truthfulness) joined with niścaya (firm resolve): he speaks with certainty, presenting his capacity as a tool for service.
