मैत्रीप्रतिष्ठा (Rama–Sugriva Alliance and Fire-Rite of Friendship)
अमोघास्सूर्यसङ्काशा ममैते निशिताश्शराः4.5.27।।तस्मिन्वालिनि दुर्वृत्ते निपतिष्यन्ति वेगिताः।कङ्कपत्रप्रतिच्छन्ना महेन्द्राशनिसन्निभाः4.5.28।।तीक्ष्णाग्रा ऋजुपर्वाणस्सरोषा भुजगा इव।
amoghāḥ sūryasaṅkāśā mamaite niśitāḥ śarāḥ | tasmin vālini durvṛtte nipatiṣyanti vegitāḥ ||4.5.27||
kaṅkapatrapraticchannā mahendrāśanisannibhāḥ | tīkṣṇāgrā ṛjuparvāṇaḥ saroṣā bhujagā iva ||4.5.28||
These my sharp arrows are unfailing, radiant like the sun; swift, they will strike that wicked Vālin. Clad with kanka-feathers, like Indra’s thunderbolt, keen-tipped and straight-jointed, they are like enraged serpents.
'These arrows covered with kanka feathers, sharp and straight at the tip, comparable to great Indra's thunderbolt are (burning bright) like the sun. Looking like angry serpents, they will unfailingly strike at the miscreant Vali soon.
Dharma as decisive protection: righteous power is presented as disciplined and purposeful—used to restrain wrongdoing and secure the frightened ally.
Rāma reassures Sugrīva by describing the certainty and force of his weapons, promising swift action against Vālin.
Rāma’s confidence and protective resolve—strength placed in service of moral order.
