सुग्रीवस्य शतवलि-प्रेषणम् (Sugriva’s Commission to Satavali for the Northern Search)
हेमपुष्करसञ्छन्नं तस्मिन् वैखानसं सरः।तरुणादित्यसङ्काशैर्हंसैर्विचरितं शुभैः।।4.43.35।।
vandyās te tu tapas-siddhās tapasā vīta-kalmaṣāḥ |
praṣṭavyā cāpi sītāyāḥ pravṛttir vinayānvitaiḥ ||
They are worthy of reverence—perfected through tapas and cleansed of all stain by austerity. With humility and proper conduct, you should ask them as well for tidings concerning Sītā.
Dharma is vinaya (humility) and truthful inquiry: even urgent goals must be pursued through respectful conduct and morally proper speech.
Sugrīva instructs the party to honor the perfected ascetics they meet and to ask them, politely, for reliable news of Sītā.
Courtesy and self-restraint—seeking truth without arrogance, especially before the spiritually accomplished.
