Shloka 4.43.20

सुग्रीवस्य शतवलि-प्रेषणम् (Sugriva’s Commission to Satavali for the Northern Search)

तमतिक्रम्य चाकाशं सर्वतश्शतयोजनम्।अपर्वतनदीवृक्षं सर्वसत्त्वविवर्जितम्।।।।

tam atikramya cākāśaṃ sarvataḥ śata-yojanam |

a-parvata-nadī-vṛkṣaṃ sarva-sattva-vivarjitam ||4.43.20||

Beyond that, you must cross through the sky a vast empty stretch of a hundred yojanas—without mountains, rivers, or trees, and devoid of all living beings.

'Beyond, there is a desolate place of hundred yojanas with no trace of life, no mountains, no trees, no rivers.

Dharma is steadfast endurance for a righteous objective: even lifeless, frightening stretches must be crossed in service to truth and justice.

Sugrīva warns of an extraordinary barren tract on the route, highlighting the hardship awaiting the searchers.

Fortitude (dhṛti) and perseverance—continuing despite exhaustion, fear, and lack of support.
