tām upasthāpitāṃ dṛṣṭvā śibikāṃ vānarādhipaḥ |
lakṣmaṇa āruhyatāṃ śīghram iti saumitrim abravīt || 4.38.10 ||
Seeing the palanquin brought forward, the lord of the monkeys said to Saumitrī: “Lakṣmaṇa, mount quickly.”
Seeing the palanquin placed in front of Sugriva, the chief of the monkeys requested Lakshmana to get in quickly.
Dharma of alliance and hospitality: Sugriva honors Rama’s brother by arranging conveyance and urging prompt action toward their shared righteous objective.
A palanquin is brought; Sugriva invites Lakshmana to mount it so they may proceed without delay.
Respectful service—Sugriva treats Lakshmana as an honored partner, not merely a visitor.
