ताराविलापः (Tārā’s Lament over Vāli)

अश्मसारमयं नूनमिदं मे हृदयं दृढम्।।भर्तारं निहतं दृष्ट्वा यन्नाद्य शतधा कृतम्।

aśma-sāra-mayaṃ nūnam idaṃ me hṛdayaṃ dṛḍham | bhartāraṃ nihataṃ dṛṣṭvā yan nādya śatadhā kṛtam ||

Surely my heart is hard, made of stone; for even today, seeing my husband slain, it has not shattered into a hundred pieces.

'My heart is surely made of hard stone yet it has not split into a hundred pieces even on seeing my husband slain৷৷

Tārā

Vāli

Satya in emotion: dharma includes truthful acknowledgement of grief and loss, not denial—lament becomes an honest moral witness to death.

Tārā confronts Vāli’s corpse and expresses shock that she is still alive and not shattered by sorrow.

Emotional truthfulness and endurance—she speaks plainly while bearing unbearable grief.
