ताराविलापः (Tārā’s Lament over Vāli)
सुहृच्चैव हि भर्ता च प्रकृत्या मम च प्रियः।आहवे च पराक्रान्तश्शूरः पञ्चत्वमागतः।।
suhṛc caiva hi bhartā ca prakṛtyā mama ca priyaḥ | āhave ca parākrāntaḥ śūraḥ pañcatvam āgataḥ ||
He was my husband and also my friend, by nature dear to me; mighty in battle, that hero has now gone to death.
'He was my husband, my friend and naturally my loving king. He was powerful in battle.Alas! the hero has died.
Honoring the dead with truthful remembrance: dharma values acknowledging a person’s roles and virtues without distortion.
Tārā recalls Vāli’s intimate roles—husband and friend—and mourns his death despite his battlefield prowess.
