Shloka 1.29.24

सिद्धाश्रम-प्रसङ्गः (Siddhashrama and the Vāmana Narrative)

अद्य गच्छामहे राम सिद्धाश्रममनुत्तमम्।तदाश्रमपदं तात तवाप्येतद्यथा मम।।1.29.24।।

etam āśramam āyānti rākṣasā vighnakāriṇaḥ |

atraiva puruṣavyāghra hantavyā duṣṭacāriṇaḥ || 1.29.23 ||

Rakṣasas who create obstacles come to this very hermitage. Here itself, O tiger among men, those wicked-doers must be slain.

"O Rama, now let's go to the unparalleled Siddhashrama. O child! this asrama is the same to you as it is to me (treat this as your own)".

Dharma includes protection of sacred practice: when violence threatens yajña and ascetic life, righteous force may be required to remove aggressors.

Viśvāmitra instructs Rāma that obstructing rakṣasas come to Siddhāśrama and must be dealt with there.

Kṣātra-dharma (the warrior’s duty): courage and decisive protection of the innocent and the sacred.
