Shloka 1.29.23

सिद्धाश्रम-प्रसङ्गः (Siddhashrama and the Vāmana Narrative)

एतमाश्रममायान्ति राक्षसा विघ्नकारिण:।अत्रैव पुरुषव्याघ्र हन्तव्या दुष्टचारिण:।।1.29.23।।

tenaiṣa pūrvam ākrānta āśramaḥ śramanāśanaḥ |

mayāpi bhaktyā tasya eṣa vāmanasyopabhujyate || 1.29.22 ||

This hermitage—banisher of fatigue—was formerly occupied by him (Vāmana); and now, through devotion to that Vāmana, it is enjoyed and maintained by me as well.

"O tiger among men, wicked rakshasas who prowl about the asram and causeobstacles ought to be killed here only.

Viśvāmitra identifies Siddhāśrama as Vāmana’s former hermitage and explains his own association with it through devotion.

Bhakti joined with tapas-based responsibility—humble guardianship of a sacred heritage.
