सिद्धाश्रम-प्रसङ्गः (Siddhashrama and the Vāmana Narrative)
तच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं तस्य मारीच: कश्यपोऽब्रवीत्।अदित्या देवतानां च मम चैवानुयाचत:।।1.29.15।।वरं वरद सुप्रीतो दातुमर्हसि सुव्रत।
tam uvāca hariḥ prītaḥ kaśyapaṃ dhūtakalmaṣam | varaṃ varaya bhadraṃ te varārho ’si mato mama || 1.29.14 ||
Pleased, Hari spoke to Kāśyapa—whose impurities had been washed away: “Choose a boon. Blessings upon you; you are worthy of a boon and dear to me.”
Having heard those words of Vishnu, Kasyapa, son of Maricha, replied, "O bestower of boons, O great practitioner of austerities! Be pleased to grant a boon for Aditi, devatas and for myself.
Right effort bears fitting results: purified conduct and truthful discipline are acknowledged, and divine grace responds proportionately to merit.
Viṣṇu, satisfied with Kāśyapa’s austerities, offers him the choice of a boon.
Purity through penance: removal of inner impurities (kalmaṣa) by sustained ethical and ascetic practice.
