अस्त्रप्रदानम् — Bestowal of Divine Astras to Rama
प्रतिगृह्य च काकुत्स्थः समालभ्य च पाणिना।मानसा मे भविष्यध्वमिति तानभ्यचोदयत्।।।।
pratigṛhya ca kākutsthaḥ samālabhya ca pāṇinā |
mānasā me bhaviṣyadhvam iti tān abhyacodayat ||
Having received them, the scion of Kakutstha touched them with his hand and commanded them: “Dwell in my mind”—thus did he instruct them.
Rama received the astras he felt with his hands and commanded them saying, "Live in my mind" (serve me whenever I remember you).
Dharma emphasizes mastery over power through mastery of mind: Rāma internalizes the astras, implying controlled, deliberate use rather than impulsive violence.
Rāma accepts the astras and sets the mode of their availability—by mental recollection and command.
Self-restraint and clarity: Rāma places potent forces under the governance of consciousness (mānasa).
