Then Sumitrā gave birth to two sons—Lakṣmaṇa and Śatrughna—both heroic, skilled in every weapon, and endowed with a share of Viṣṇu’s divine qualities.

Dharma is supported by divinely endowed capability used for protection: the princes’ strength and training are framed as instruments meant to uphold righteousness, not personal dominance.

The narration continues the account of the births of Daśaratha’s sons, specifying Sumitrā’s two sons and their exceptional qualities.

Valor and preparedness—martial competence (sarvāstrakuśalatā) aligned with righteous purpose.
