Shloka 1.18.15
पुत्रजन्मोत्सवः — Birth of the Princes and Viśvāmitra’s Arrival (Bālakāṇḍa 18)
राज्ञ: पुत्रा महात्मानश्चत्वारो जज्ञिरे पृथक्।।।।गुणवन्तोऽनुरूपाश्च रुच्या प्रोष्ठपदोपमा:।
puṣye jātastu bharato mīnalagne prasannadhīḥ |
sārpe jātau ca saumitrī kulīre ’bhyudite ravau ||
Bharata, of clear and tranquil understanding, was born when Puṣya was ascendant and the lagna was Mīna; and Sumitrā’s sons were born under Āśleṣā, with the lagna in Kulīra (Karkaṭa), at sunrise.
Four worthy sons were successively born to the noble king (Dasaratha), endowed with all virtuous, resembling purvabhadra and uttarabhadra stars in brightness.
Dharma is presented as harmony between human life and cosmic order: auspicious timing symbolizes that righteous leadership and character are aligned with ṛta (ordered reality).
The text provides astrological markers for the births of Bharata and Sumitrā’s sons, emphasizing their auspicious arrival.
