Shloka 1.17.33

सप्तदशः सर्गः — देवसंवादः तथा वानर-ऋक्ष-उत्पत्तिः (Divine Council and the Generation of Vanara Allies)

तांश्च सर्वान्महाबाहुर्वाली विपुलविक्रम:।जुगोप भुजवीर्येण ऋक्षगोपुच्छवानरान्।।।।

tāṃś ca sarvān mahābāhur vālī vipulavikramaḥ | jugopa bhujavīryeṇa ṛkṣagopucchavānarān ||

And Vālī—mighty-armed and of vast prowess—protected them all with the strength of his arms: the bears, the gopucchas, and the monkeys.

Mighty armed leader Vali endowed with immense prowess protected, with his strong arms all those bears, gopuchhas(cow-tailed) and monkeys.

Rājadharma (the duty of a ruler) is protection: true authority is measured by guarding dependents through personal responsibility and courage.

Vālī is depicted as the strong protector of the various allied groups—bears and different monkey-tribes—under his leadership.

Protective valor: Vālī’s strength is framed as a shielding force for his people.
