सप्तदशः सर्गः — देवसंवादः तथा वानर-ऋक्ष-उत्पत्तिः (Divine Council and the Generation of Vanara Allies)
ते तार्क्ष्यबलसम्पन्नास्सर्वे युद्धविशारदा:।विचरन्तोऽर्दयन्दर्पात्सिंहव्याघ्रमहोरगान्।।।।
te tārkṣyabalasampannāḥ sarve yuddhaviśāradāḥ | vicaranto 'rdayan darpāt siṃhavyāghramahoragān ||
Endowed with the strength of Tārkṣya (Garuḍa) and skilled in warfare, they ranged about and, in their pride, harried lions, tigers, and great serpents.
Endowed with the might of Garuda and well-versed in warfare, all of them moving around tormented ferouious lions, tigers and mighty serpents .
Strength without restraint tends toward adharma: the mention of darpa (pride) warns that power must be governed by humility and purpose.
The newly arisen warrior-vānaras, immensely strong and battle-trained, roam the wilderness and overpower dangerous beasts, displaying their might.
Implied virtue is self-control (dama): the verse highlights pride as a risk, pointing to the need for disciplined use of strength.
