सप्तदशः सर्गः — देवसंवादः तथा वानर-ऋक्ष-उत्पत्तिः (Divine Council and the Generation of Vanara Allies)

मारुतस्यात्मजश्श्रीमान्हनुमान्नाम वीर्यवान् ।वज्रसंहननोपेतो वैनतेयसमो जवे।।।।

Transliteration

mārutasyātmajaḥ śrīmān hanumān nāma vīryavān | vajra-saṃhanana-upeto vainateya-samo jave ||

Translation

Māruta (Vāyu) begot a son named Hanumān—illustrious and mighty—whose frame was diamond-hard, and whose speed equaled that of Vainateya (Garuḍa).

Vayu, the wind-god, begot a son named Hanuman, mighty and graceful, having a body as hard as a diamond and speed equal to Garuda's.
